FAQ

Do you have questions about our dance classes, events or general processes at DanceTown? Our FAQ page provides answers to the most common questions so that you can get the information you need quickly and easily.

  • I would like to take a trial lesson. Do I have to register?

Yes, of course. We need your full name and your mobile number. On your first visit, report to the counter and pick up your trial card, pay the CHF 10 trial fee and then head off to the lesson. Have fun!

  • My daughter/son wants to start dancing. How does that work?

Contact us by phone or email. Depending on age, interest and any dance experience you may already have, we will recommend the best possible lesson. Your child will then attend the appropriate trial lesson. Dancing along is not only desired, but even required, so that the teacher and student can get an impression of each other. If the feedback from the teacher and child is positive, your child can attend training regularly straight away. All you have to do is fill out the registration form. The invoice will be sent to you by post.

  • As a parent, can I watch the lesson?

You are welcome to watch during the first lesson. After that, please contact the teacher.

  • Can I start at any time or do I have to wait until the semester starts?

In principle, anyone can join at any time. There are sometimes unfavourable time slots because we are about to give a performance or a class is just before an event. In this case, joining is delayed until after the relevant event. We look at this on a case-by-case basis.

  • What should I wear? Is there a dress code?

No. Dance clothing should be comfortable above all. Only in ballet are overly baggy training dresses unsuitable. In children's dance, girls like to wear leggings with a tutu or skirt.

  • Semester flat rate: Can I change courses within a semester?

Yes. If you change from a 60-minute to a 90-minute lesson, you will have to pay the surcharge.

  • Semester allowance: Can I make up missed lessons?

Yes. Missed lessons can be made up in another lesson during the semester or in advance.

  • Dance pass: How many lessons per week can I attend?

Unlimited access to all regular DanceTown lessons. The dance pass is not valid for lessons from our external providers.

  • I'm over 30 years old and have never danced before. Can I still join you?

Of course. It's about interest in dancing, not about age.

  • What do levels A, M, F mean?

    A = Beginner

  • Why do you consider me an adult at 16?

Because at 16 you are physically ready for normal adult training.

  • Can I, who am only 15 years old, also dance in an adult class?

Yes, you can if you like the class. In this case, you pay the adult rate, minus the 10% training discount.

  • I just can't remember the dance combinations. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing. It's like everything: firstly, how quickly you pick up is very individual. And secondly, practice makes perfect. We have to actively perform movement elements and sequences countless times before they enter our automatic body memory and become anchored there. The more this is filled, the easier it is for us to remember new dance combinations. Patience and persevere.

  • Where exactly in the Center Passage is DanceTown?

On the 3rd basement floor, south side (Landstrasse side). You can also reach us directly using the two main centre lifts.

  • Where can I park?

The Centre Passage has its own parking lot, which is open every day: Monday to Saturday from 5:00 a.m. to 10:15 p.m. and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Exit is possible at any time, 24 hours.

  • Can I take a shower at your place?

Yes. We have a changing room for ladies and one for men with 4 showers each.
